Properties: Soluble in water, soluble in ethanol, vegetable oil, ethyl acetate, methanol, toluene, insoluble in mineral oil. It becomes gelatinous at low temperature and recovers after heat. Very smelly, slightly bitter taste. It is helpful for the dispersion of phthalocyanine green.
Function Function: Tween-20 is laurel ester; Twen-60 is stearate; Twin-80 is oleate, both have emulsifying effect.
It can be used as a wetting agent for suspension. Nonionic surfactant.
Usage and dosage: used as emulsifier when preparing oil in water emulsion or cream. It can also be used as an oil solubilization aid (such as volatile oil).
Points to note:
(1) It has hemolysis effect, and Tween-80 has the weakest effect.
(2) The aqueous solution can produce turbidity after heating, and clear after cooling, without affecting the quality.
(3) It can interfere with the function of bacteriostatic agent in solution
